The basics
Go-kon is a Japanese social tradition where a small group of people — usually an equal mix of men and women — meet at a restaurant, café, or social setting arranged by mutual friends. Nobody knows everyone at the start. It's low-pressure, structured enough to break the ice, and relaxed enough to feel natural. En Meets runs the modern version of this in Honolulu.
It depends on the event type. Classic GoKon events are designed for people open to meeting romantic connections — but plenty of people come just to make friends and enjoy the evening. Open Social events have no dating intent at all. You set your own intentions; we just create the setting.
Most events have 6–12 people. Classic GoKon events cap at equal numbers of men and women — typically 3–4 each side. Small groups are intentional: big enough to meet new people, small enough for real conversation.
Anyone 18 and over based in or visiting Honolulu. Classic GoKon events currently use a binary gender balance (equal men and women). Open Social events welcome all genders and orientations. You'll need to create a profile and agree to the community guidelines before joining any event.
At the event
You show up, meet your group, and do the activity — coffee, dinner, a walk, trivia. For dinner GoKon, seating rotates every 20–30 minutes so you get face time with everyone. The app guides the evening — rotation timers and prompts keep things moving. Most events run 2–3 hours. After, you're free to exchange contacts with anyone you connected with.
That's genuinely okay — and more common than people admit. The group format means you'll still have a fun evening even without a standout connection. Most regulars say the worst outcome is still a great night out. We don't manufacture chemistry; we just create better conditions for it.
Yes — and many members do. Each event draws a different group, so you meet new people every time. There's no membership required and no limit on how many events you attend. Some members come every week.
The reveal system
Once your group is confirmed, identities are revealed in stages to build anticipation:

Group confirmed — first names and a personal signal (a fun fact or favourite interest) are visible.
72 hours out — blurred silhouettes appear.
24 hours out — photos unlock for members who chose to share one.
2 hours out — the exact venue address is revealed.

This is intentional. It makes showing up feel like an event, not just another app interaction.
No. Photos are completely optional. You can share a photo (visible to your group 24 hours before the event), show a blurred silhouette, or stay fully anonymous until the day of. Whatever you choose, your full identity is revealed at the event itself.
Deposits & cancellations
The deposit (typically $15–$18) holds your spot and ensures people actually show up. It is refunded in full when you attend the event. Think of it as a commitment device, not a fee — if you come, it costs you nothing.
5+ days before the event — full refund, no questions.
3–5 days before — 50% refund.
Within 3 days — no refund.
Within 24 hours or no-show — no refund, and a late-cancellation flag is added to your account.

If En Meets cancels an event for any reason, you always receive a full refund. See Pricing for more detail.
If a group doesn't reach the minimum size to run, the event is cancelled and everyone receives a full refund. You'll be notified as early as possible so you can make other plans.
Safety & trust
Every member creates a real profile with their name, gender, and birthday. Phone verification is required for Classic GoKon events. All members agree to our community guidelines, and accounts can be suspended for violations. Events are held at established public venues — never private homes or residences.
Report it to us at safety@enmeets.com or flag the member directly in the app after the event. We take conduct reports seriously and act on them. If you ever feel unsafe, you are always free to leave.
Logistics
New events are posted weekly, covering the following 1–2 weeks. We run a consistent weekly schedule — coffee socials, dinner GoKon, walks — so there's usually something available within 7 days of whenever you're looking. See this week's events →

No. Creating a profile is free. You only pay the refundable deposit when you join a specific event — and get it back when you show up. Some events have a separate venue or activity cost, which is shown upfront. See Pricing for a full breakdown.
